Assistant Professor John Taylor Awarded Sloan Industry Studies Fellowship

03/02/2009

Assistant Professor John E. Taylor is one of three young researchers to receive a prestigious 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Industry Studies Fellowship. The award will allow Taylor to expand his current National Science Foundation - and Construction Industry Institute - funded research on global engineering design services to optimize complex knowledge system exchanges in globally-distributed, cross-cultural teams.

"The Industry Studies Fellowships support the work of researchers early in their academic careers who are recognized for their exceptional promise to contribute to the advancement of knowledge as well as to U.S. industrial development," said Paul L. Joskow, President of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, in announcing the awards.  Each fellow receives a two-year, $45,000 grant and is free to pursue whatever line of inquiry or research that is most interesting to them. Candidates are nominated for the Industry Studies Fellowships by their department chairs and other senior scholars who are familiar with their talents and promise.
