New course on Tunnel Design and Construction

A new course on Tunnel Design and Construction will be offered in the spring semester. The Course will be taught by Nasri Munfah, who is the authority in this field and currently the Senior Vice President for the Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas, Inc. The Course is in response to the demand of tunnel engineers in view of several billion-dollar tunneling projects in New York city. The Course will cover the engineering design and construction of different types of tunnel, as well as liner, excavation and instrumentation. A field trip to the tunneling site will be arranged.
Columbia University has an active geotechnical/geomechanics research program. Several advanced courses are offered annualy.
