Prof. Younane N. Abousleiman

Dr. Younane N. Abousleiman is the Larry W. Brummett/ONEOK Chair and Professor, Mewbourne School of Petroleum & Geological Engineering, School of Geology & GeoPhysics, and Sarkeys Energy Center. Adjunct Professor, School of Civil Engineering & Environmental Science.
Dr. Abousleiman
joined the University of Oklahoma in 1991 upon completion
of his doctoral degree in civil engineering from the University
of Delaware, Newark (1991). He earned his M.S. degree from
Columbia University, NewYork (1986) and his B.S. from the
American University of Beirut, Lebanon (1982).
Dr. Abousleiman was appointed as Director of the PoroMechanics
Institute in 1998. In addition to his time at OU, Dr. Abousleiman has served on
the faculty of the Lebanese American University in Byblos, Lebanon
and the University of Delaware, Newark. He has over 100 academic
publications.
Dr. Abousleiman has been successful in generating $10 million in research funding for the PoroMechanics Institute and is the principal investigator for an industry-sponsored consortium focusing on research areas such as reservoir compaction and subsidence, inclined boreholes, simulation of naturally fractured reservoirs, acoustic emission in rocks, poroelastic media, and sanding.
