Dr. Ashraf Al-Tahini

Dr. Al-Tahini is a senior petroleum engineer at Saudi Aramco
Company. He has a PhD (2007) and MS (2003) degrees in Petroleum and Geological
Engineering, from the University of Oklahoma and BS degree (1996) in Chemical
Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran,
Saudi Arabia. During the 12 years of career and education, Ashraf has presented
and published many technical papers. Ashraf has also received many awards
including the SPE mention award (2008), best paper and presentation during
Saudi Aramco Technical Exchange Conference in Dhahran (2001), University of Oklahoma Rock
Mechanics Award for the years 2003 and 2006, the second
place award for the Society of Petroleum Engineers US Rocky Mountain Mid Continent
PhD paper contest (2004). Ashraf areas of interest include geomechanics and
rock physics as he currently involved in leading several projects vital
projects including fracturing openhole horizontal wells, Saudi Aramco Virtual Lab,
in-situ chemical consolidation for sand control, stabilizing poorly
consolidated formations and modeling wellbore instability problems. He is the
Chairman of the 2009 SPE Saudi Arabia Section technical Symposium and
Exhibition and a member of Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of
Exploration and Geophysics, and American Rock Mechanics
Association.
