Prof. Marte Gutierrez

Prof. Marte Gutierrez is currently the James R. Paden Distinguished Professor at the Division of Engineering of Colorado School of Mines. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo, and completed his post-doctoral studies at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI). Prior to joining CSM in 2008, he was Senior Engineer at NGI for nine years, and Associate Professor/Professor at Virginia Tech for eight years. He led the Petroleum Geomechanics Group at NGI for four years. His research interests include Computational and Experimental Geomechanics, Information Technologies for Geo-Engineering, and Petroleum Geomechanics.
