Prof. Robert W. Zimmerman

 

Prof. Robert Zimmerman received a BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Columbia University, and a PhD in continuum mechanics from the University of California at Berkeley. He has been a staff scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Head of the Division of Engineering Geology and Geophysics at KTH in Stockholm. He was appointed Professor of Rock Mechanics at Imperial College in 2008. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Rock Mechanics, and co-author, with J. C. Jaeger and N. G. W. Cook, of Fundamentals of Rock Mechanics (4th edition, Blackwell, 2007).
