Apply for Access
All members of the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics are granted access to the Carleton Laboratory during normal operating hours without the need to request access. Faculty and staff of CEEM are granted access by default.
Full access will be granted only to Columbia University members with a legitimate need to use the facilities of the laboratory. All access authorizations are rescinded on 31 May of every year, at which point the request must be re-filed.
If you plan to work in the laboratory after hours, you must obtain a C-14 Certificate of Fitness as per regulations imposed by the Fire Marshal of the City of New York.
Important: All access requests for use of the Scanning Electron Microscope within Carleton Lab must go through the Columbia MRSEC management.
