ASCE STUDENT CHAPTER
The Columbia University Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is a pre-professional club dedicated to all students interested in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Construction Management and Columbia University. While ASCE’s main focus is to aid members in finding scholarships and jobs both for summer and post graduation, the chapter also participates in a variety of activities. The most recognizable activity is the annual steel bridge competition, especially considering Columbia’s national finish in 2003 and 2004. The ASCE chapter also participates in majors informational sessions and job experience sessions for underclassmen and women.
The Columbia student chapter of the American Institute of Civil Engineers maintains offices in the Carleton Laboratory. The lab also provides major support and instruction during the annual construction of the AISC Steel Bridge.

AIAA AIRPLANE CLUB
Columbia's student branch of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is mainly concerned with the design and construction of a model aircraft to compete in Cessna's Design-Build-Fly competition. This avionics competition is highly competitive and attracts teams from top engineering schools both nationally and internationally. The plane is designed from scratch each year, as the missions change annually. At the end of the year, the team flies out to the annually chosen competition site and competes with the built airplane.
The AIAA Airplane Club maintains its offices and work space in the Carleton Laboratory, where a new aircraft is also constructed every year.

ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS
The Columbia University chapter of Engineers Without Borders aims to address the problems facing people both locally and abroad by leveraging the skills, talents and passions of Columbia University students and the partnerships formed with our organization. Our members come from all engineering and arts backgrounds, sharing the desire to do meaningful work in improving the lives of others through creative, sustainable, engineering solutions. We are currently working on three programs in Ghana, India, and Uganda. For more information about each of the programs, visit the individual program pages.
The CUEWB maintains offices in the Carleton Laboratory. The Carleton Laboratory provides both theoretical and practical (facilities and equipment) support to the group, especially for the prototype models of the many overseas design and construction projects.
