New York City is served by three major airports: LaGuardia, JFK and Newark. LaGuardia is the most convenient, then JFK and least convenient is Newark.

From the Airport:

Taxi:
The easiest way to reach Columbia University from the airport is by taxi. The average fare from LaGuardia Airport, the closest airport to the campus, is $25.  This includes tolls and tips.  Kennedy Airport has a flat fare of $35 to any single stop in Manhattan.  This does not include tolls and tip which will add another $10.  Taxi service from Newark Airport into Manhattan is $65 including tolls and tip.

Bus or Train Service:
The city M60 bus provides inexpensive service ($1.50) from LaGuardia Airport to Columbia University, but the trip may be time consuming.

The trip from LaGuardia takes from 30-45 minutes and costs $10. It takes 45-60 minutes from Kennedy at a cost of $12.  AirTrain provides rail service from Newark Airport to New York Penn Station (from which one can take the #1 Subway to Columbia). The trip takes 45-60 minutes and costs $11.55  per person + $1.50 (for the subway).

One can take the subway into Manhattan from JFK but it can take 1-2 hours to get to Columbia.
