Lead by Professor Rimas Vaicaitis, the department's research in flight structures focuses on reliability and fatigue of aging aircraft; mechanics and thermal science of composite materials, thin films and coating for aircraft and aerospace applications; active vibration control; multifunctional materials for unmanned air vehicles.
