Graduate student research/teaching assistantships/fellowships are available for excellent and strongly motivated students to join the micro/nano/biomechanics group directed by Prof. Chen. In general, applicants should meet the following requirements: 1) a master's degree in engineering mechanics or related area, 2) published or submitted at least 2-3 international journal papers (several recently recruited students each had>10 publications before they joined Columbia), 3) decent GPA, GRE verbal>400 and TOEFL>600, 4) strong recommendation letters. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Prof. Xi Chen directly. Please note that due to the large number of applications I receive every year, I will only respond to those who meet the qualifications and those who may match the group's interest.
