The project combines turbulence theory, high-fidelity modeling techniques, and a unique experimental dataset to elucidate fundamental mechanisms supporting momentum and kinetic energy transfer in hurricane turbulence at an unprecedented level of detail. Reduced order models will be developed for use in interdisciplinary applications, including wind engineering, risk assessment, storm surge, weather prediction and climate projections.
