Students visit field experiment of novel low-power wireless sensor network

Oct 14 2021

Last December,  Prof. Maria Feng took a group of graduate students including the students in her ENME E6215 class and her research assistants to a field experiment of a novel low-power wireless sensor network at the Manhattan Bridge, with the in-kind support of the New York City Department of Transportation.  This sensor network successfully measured the bridge vibration characteristics and demonstrated its potential can be used for long-term structural health monitoring.  This project was sponsored by the National Science Foundation’s Industry-University Cooperative Research Center on Energy Harvesting Materials and System. It was a great hands-on experience for our students, despite the difficulties due to COVID-19.
