Professors George Deodatis and Ioannis Kougioumtzoglou win prestigious International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability (IASSAR) awards.

The Department would like to congratulate George Deodatis and Ioannis Kougioumtzoglou for receiving these well-deserved honors.

Presented in June during the 14th International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability (ICOSSAR), these awards recognize Deodatis and Kougioumtzoglou's pioneering work in the field of engineering safety and reliability.

Deodatis was awarded the IASSAR Distinguished Research Award for his outstanding contributions as a senior researcher in advancing the fields of structural safety, risk, and reliability.

Kougioumtzoglou received the IASSAR Early Achievement Research Award, honoring his exceptional work and impact as an early-career researcher under the age of 40.

Since its inception in 1969, the conference has been a cornerstone event organized by IASSAR, bringing together experts from around the world to promote the study and application of scientific principles in engineering safety and reliability. Presented every four years, these awards celebrate excellence in scientific research related to the safety, reliability, and risk assessment of engineering structures and systems.
