Please join us in celebrating CEEM Alumnus Dr. Perry S. Green (BS’77) as the recipient of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)'s Shortridge Hardesty Award!
Dr. Green was selected for this award for his cumulative efforts and outstanding achievements to the research, teaching, and engagement of the civil engineering profession as it relates to the stability analysis and design of steel/metal structures, thereby making substantial advancements to codes and standards of structural steel and cold-formed steel.
Dr. Green specializes in classical and finite element methods of structural analysis, design of structures with a strong emphasis in connection design, commercial and power plant structures that utilize structural steel, cold-formed steel, and joist and joist girder products. He has been involved with several organizations, including the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Structural Engineers Institute (SEI), and the Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC).
Dr. Green is a very well decorated engineer, with many outstanding publications, honors, and contributions to the advancement of civil engineering throughout his career. He currently serves as a Senior Civil Engineer for Bechtel Corporation, and continues to represent Columbia’s Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Department with pride!
