For the second consecutive year, our ASCE Student Chapter places third in the Construction Institute (CI) Student Competition at the 2025 ASCE Student Symposium.
Hosted at NJIT, the ASCE Student Symposium is an annual gathering that brings together civil engineering students from universities across the region to compete in technical and leadership challenges, allowing them to showcasing their skills and creativity.
We are proud to share that our team — Shyenne Solis-Curiel (Vice President Internal), Jake Moreno (Co-President), Sara Kugler (Treasurer), and Tahlly Puangsawas — placed third in the Construction Institute (CI) Student Competition for the second year in a row. The CI competition challenges students to develop and present a real-world construction management plan based on a complex project scenario, testing their skills in scheduling, budgeting, coordination, and professional communication.
Tahlly Puangsawas also earned an Honorable Mention for the Best Speaker Award during the CI competition. Additionally, Emily Djohan (Vice-President External) won second place in the prestigious Student Symposium Mead Paper Competition, where students write and deliver a paper on an ethical issue facing the civil engineering profession today, showcasing critical thinking, writing, and public speaking skills.
Our ASCE Chapter has also been selected by the Committee on Student Members to receive a Letter of Honorable Mention for its outstanding activities as recorded in the 2024 Student Chapter annual report. This recognition is received by only the top third of all Student Organizations.
We are thrilled by our chapter’s outstanding performance and excited to continue building on this momentum!
