The Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Department congratulates Professor Steve Waiching Sun on his selection as a Cornell University AI4S Visiting Professor through the Cornell AI4S Initiative (CAISI).
Professor Sun was nominated by Cornell Professor David Bindel in recognition of his work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, sustainable infrastructure, and materials. As an AI4S Visiting Professor, Professor Sun will engage with Cornell faculty, students, and the broader AI4S community through seminars, guest lectures, research discussions, and opportunities for academic collaboration.
The Visiting Professorship is typically held for two years and is designed to foster sustained scholarly exchange through short academic visits to Cornell. This recognition highlights Professor Sun’s contributions to advancing the application of AI to sustainable infrastructure and materials and his leadership in this emerging area of research.
