Arpita Saha, the 2023 scholarship winner, is a junior majoring in Civil Engineering with a minor in Sustainable Engineering. Despite being so early in her studies, Saha has already exhibited exceptional talent and dedication to the industry. Currently, she is pursuing a construction internship at FTI Consulting. Arpita has also interned at COWI, where she worked on a marine infrastructure project and assisted with embodied carbon calculations for a transportation project. During the summer of her sophomore year, she worked as a lab assistant in the Carleton Laboratory where she performed tensile testing on suspension bridge cables.

On campus, Saha plays a key role supporting the Engineering School’s recruitment initiatives. As Co-Chair of the Engineering Recruitment Committee, she leads tours for prospective engineering students, oversees other tour guides, and manages all the committee’s operational activities. Saha also acts as an ambassador and mentor to high school students as part of the ACE Mentor Program.

After graduating, Arpita would like to continue exploring the intersection between engineering and sustainability and pursue a career that focuses on the development of sustainable infrastructure.
